New Life Sunday - A Winning Culture...

Well, here we go—on Sunday night, the Kansas City Chiefs have a chance to do what no team has ever done: win three Super Bowls in a row. And, of course, if they do, some will say, "It’s all because of the refs!"— as if Andy Reid has a direct line to Roger Goodell and a stockpile of burnt ends ready to bribe officials.  But whether you love the Chiefs or love to hate the Chiefs, one thing is undeniable: Coach Andy Reid has built a winning culture.

In my (completely unbiased) opinion, Reid is the biggest reason for the Chiefs' success. Sure, Patrick Mahomes is the greatest quarterback of all time (Yes, I said it. No, I will not be taking questions ?). He may not always rack up regular-season MVPs, but he shows up when it counts. That’s what great leaders do.

Of course, we can’t talk about the Chiefs without mentioning one of our very own New Lifers, Noah Gray who will be out there battling on Sunday night. And here’s the deal: our job is to pray. Pray that his routes are sharp, his blocks are solid, and that he catches everything thrown his way. Basically, let’s ask God to give him the best hands in the game (and maybe even sneak him into the end zone for a TD).
So why does leadership matter? Because everything rises and falls on it. A great leader builds a culture of excellence, navigates challenges, develops others, and keeps the team focused on the bigger goal. Whether it's football, business, or—most importantly—the church, leadership makes all the difference.

This Sunday morning, before we settle in for the Super Bowl and the commercials (and pretend to enjoy whatever new Taylor Swift camera angle they introduce), Pastor Dave will continue our series, Blueprint for a Healthy Church, by walking us through 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

We’ll see why healthy leaders create healthy churches, and how unhealthy leaders can hurt them. It’s not just about pastors and elders—each of us has a role to play in the structure of the church, and we’ll be challenged to grow in our own leadership.

Let's worship together in the morning, and then, Sunday night, we can all watch and see if leadership really does make the difference. (And if we lose, we’ll try to be Christlike. No promises).

I sure hope to see you this Sunday at our temporary location at The Harlow Event Space, 1525 Grand Ave., Kansas City, MO. Our services are still at 8:00, 9:15 (Full KidCity available), or 10:45 am (Full KidCity available), or you can watch the Livestream on YouTube (Like and Subscribe) or on our New Life website at 9:15 am.

How ‘bout those Chieeeefs,
Troy
