So, tomorrow’s the big day—Chiefs vs. Texans in the playoffs!
Let’s GOOOOOOO!!!
I don’t know about you, but I feel good about our chances. Yes, we have some incredible players—Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Noah Gray, and the list goes on. But in my opinion, Coach Andy Reid is the real magic behind the Chiefs’ success.
Not Randy Reid…Andy Reid IYKYK ?
Coach Andy Reid is the one who gets the best out of everyone, making sure they’re disciplined, focused, and ready to perform when it counts. And if you ask me, that’s the true secret to our Chief’s success.
You can have all the talent in the world, but without great coaching, it’s hard to get anywhere. Coach Reid has built a culture of attention to detail and commitment that’s a huge part of why the Chiefs are where they are…and honestly, I think there’s a lot we can learn from that when it comes to our Christian lives.
The last conversation Jesus had with his disciples was to tell them they needed to “Go and make disciples…” (Matt. 28:19-20). The concept of coaching and mentoring didn’t start with football…or sports…the concept of coaching started with God. The only way to truly live out our God-given calling to make disciples is by becoming disciple-making disciples ourselves.
This Sunday, as we dive into week three of our sermon series through 1st Timothy, “A Blueprint for a Healthy Church”, we’ll be talking about the importance of coaching in the Christian life. Just like Coach Reid doesn’t leave his players to figure it all out on their own, we’re not meant to go it alone in our faith. We need each other to grow, to be held accountable, and to learn how to live out our calling to make disciples.
So, whether you’re watching the Chiefs dominate tomorrow (we pray) or just hoping for a good game, let’s remember that we all have a role to play… to grow and then to help others grow.
I sure hope to see you this Sunday, at our temporary location at The Harlow Event Space, 1525 Grand Ave., Kansas City, MO. Have a great evening and let’s Go Chiefs,
Troy
