Honoring...
If there’s one thing Pastor Jeff is passionate about (besides Jesus and a good cup of coffee, and the Royals, and books?)…it’s community.
So what does honoring one another actually look like?
He’s the kind of guy who never drinks coffee alone, partly because he loves people and partly because he firmly believes coffee should always come with good conversation. If you’ve ever tried to sneak out of church without talking to anyone, good luck…Pastor Jeff will probably find you, pull you into a conversation, and somehow make you feel like you’ve been best friends for years.
But that’s the beauty of real community…it’s intentional, relational, and built on honor. And that’s exactly what Pastor Don will preach about this Sunday from 1 Timothy 5:1-16.
In this passage, Paul gives Timothy a blueprint for how the church should function as a spiritual family. He talks about honoring elders, caring for widows, and treating each other with love, respect, and genuine concern. In short, a strong church isn’t just a crowd of people in the same building; it’s a family that looks out for each other.
So what does honoring one another actually look like?
Well, it’s more than just saying nice things (though let’s be honest, a few extra compliments wouldn’t hurt). It’s about respecting people even when you disagree, caring for those who might feel invisible, and sometimes even letting someone else have the last cup of coffee (true sacrificial love). It’s about being invested in each other’s lives, not just showing up on Sundays and calling it good.
A strong community doesn’t just happen…it takes effort, grace, and the occasional potluck. Don’t forget to RSVP for Core Conversation on Sunday. And when we truly honor one another, we reflect the heart of Jesus and create a church that feels like home.
Join us this Sunday as Pastor Don unpacks this powerful message. You’ll enjoy some great teaching and stories, and you just might leave with a renewed appreciation for the people sitting next to you. See you there!
