Friendly skies...
I will never forget my first flight with my daughter as the pilot. She flew in to meet me on her own, and then we took off together for an incredible experience in the sky. I have to say, I was blown away (pun intended ?) by her skill. Watching her navigate the cockpit, read the gauges, and communicate with air traffic control like a boss was awesome. Even with windy conditions, she landed the plane like a pro.
Some people have asked if I was nervous…and I wasn’t!
I joked that “I’d be willing to die for her, and I was willing to die with her.” Thankfully, we didn’t need to test my commitment!
I know my daughter and I’ve watched her study and train, she works super hard and has become a skilled pilot, so it’s not really that difficult to trust her.
Trust develops at the intersection of a person’s competence and the time we’ve invested in getting to know them. It grows as we observe their abilities and see them consistently deliver on their promises.
Trusting a pilot is one thing…especially when it’s your kid….trusting God should be even easier.
This Sunday, we’re going to focus on just two verses, Jude 24-25 as we finish up our sermon series in Jude. These verses are packed with truth about the character of God, reminding us that God is trustworthy and fully capable.
Just like I could trust my daughter because I knew her and had seen her commitment, we can trust God because of who He is. He is a God who keeps His promises, who knows every detail, and who has proven His faithfulness throughout history. More than that, He is able to keep us from stumbling and to present us blameless before His glorious presence.
The same God who has the power to create and sustain the universe is the One who cares for you personally and will carry you safely through the toughest of times.
So, as we look at Jude 24-25 this Sunday, we’ll see a “good word” about a great God who not only has the ability to protect and guide us but also deserves our complete trust.
I sure hope to see you Sunday at 8:00, 9:15 (Full KidCity available), or 10:45 am (Full sermon https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCi9tGbS2D0xxkxz2-6NMBbQ(Like and Subscribe) or on our New Life website at 9:15 am. Additionally, we are also publishing our sermons on Spotify.
Have a great weekend,
Troy
