Capsized...

We just returned from a great week of family vacation at Table Rock Lake near Branson. It was one of those trips where the days felt full, in the best kind of way. We spent our days boating, swimming, hiking, playing mini golf (which, let’s be honest, got a little too competitive), watching movies, and eating way too much. Seriously, if vacation calories don’t count, we’re good.

One of the highlights was our annual canoe race. Four canoes, family members teaming up, some good ole’ trash talk at the starting line, and a beautiful paddle out to a waterfall. The race back, though, is where things took a turn… for the hilarious.

One canoe got a little too confident with their speed and ended up flipping over in spectacular fashion…suddenly, the race became a rescue. We managed to tip the canoe back upright, tied the boats together with lifejackets (MacGyver would’ve been proud), and slowly towed our soggy kids back to safety.

Just as we were nearing the dock, reinforcements arrived in the form of a pontoon rescue mission. Everyone was safe, waterlogged, and smiling. And like all the best family mishaps, it made for a great story, a lasting memory... and a solid Friday email.

As I thought about it later, it hit me that this was more than just a canoe story. It was a picture of what it means to be on mission together. Sometimes things go according to plan. Sometimes they flip upside down. But in every moment, we need each other. And when we’re united in purpose, even the setbacks become part of the story God is authoring.

This Sunday, we’re wrapping up our summer series on missions from the book of Acts. Will Boroughs, who leads our missions team alongside his wife Ashley, is preaching from Acts 18 to bring a strong, final challenge: Let’s be a church that takes the Gospel to the nations.

We’ll also hear from Shane and Erin Latham, who are preparing to host our missions team in Brazil in September. They’ll be sharing exciting updates and opportunities to join what God is doing globally.

Don’t miss this powerful morning. Come ready to be encouraged, inspired, and maybe even nudged a bit, because the mission isn’t for spectators. It’s for all of us.

We are meeting in our NEWLY REMODELED SPACE AT 1717 McGee. Services are at 8:00, 9:15 (Full KidCity available), or 10:45 am (Full KidCity available), or you can watch the Livestream on YouTube (Like and Subscribe) or on our New Life website at 9:15 am. Also, we would LOVE for you to follow us on Socials ?: Facebook, YouTube, Instagram.

See you Sunday!
