Serving others...

This afternoon, I had the privilege of attending a graduation…not for high school, college, or even a seminary. No, this was a graduation for Fatherhood Foundations. A ministry designed to help men understand their identity and purpose as men of God.

And let me tell you, this was no ordinary ceremony. There were no caps and gowns, but there were plenty of handshakes, smiles, and a real sense of accomplishment.

One of the graduates, Alberto, has an incredible story of transformation. If you haven’t watched his New Life story yet, check it out here. His journey is a testimony to the power of God’s grace, the impact of a supportive community, and what happens when a man embraces his God-given role.

Alberto is originally from Philadelphia and, unfortunately, is a die-hard Eagles fan. The only part lacking in his journey of transformation is trading out the green for red…because if you are a part of the kingdom, you know life is just better as a Chiefs fan ?!

The people who serve Alberto and so many others with Fatherhood Foundations make a lasting difference by equipping men to be present, engaged fathers. The statistics are staggering…youth incarceration rates rise to 85% among those without a dad, and teenage suicide rates can be up to 63% higher for those growing up in fatherless homes.

This Sunday, as we look at 1 Timothy 5:17-6:10, we’ll explore what it means to be a healthy church that serves with humility. Paul’s words remind us to honor those who lead well, to learn from past failures in how we care for others, and to find contentment in Christ rather than the fleeting promises of wealth.

When we focus on serving others instead of ourselves, we reflect God’s design for His church.

Alberto’s graduation was a powerful reminder that real change happens when people invest in others, not for personal recognition, but out of a genuine desire to see lives transformed. The church is at its best when we serve with humility, care for one another, and find joy in God’s provision.

So this Sunday, let’s ask ourselves: Are we serving as God intended? Are we investing in the lives of those around us? And how can we make a lasting impact by pointing people to Jesus?

See you Sunday!
