Identity Crisis...

Last Saturday, I took my two oldest boys and a friend to Worlds of Fun, thanks to some free tickets Dallas scored. The park was packed—longer lines than I’ve ever seen—but that turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We had plenty of time to talk as we weaved and waited in the sea of people. Also, the weather was nearly perfect, and I nearly doubled my step count for the day!

After popping some Advil to prevent a headache, I followed the boys straight to the rides and roller coasters…nothing wrong with a little adrenaline?
The haunted houses were mostly predictable, but there was one moment that caught me off guard: a ghost suddenly moved a table across the concrete floor, and I jumped—don’t worry, I didn’t scream or anything crazy.

There were plenty of people in costumes, all hiding their identities for fun. And this made me wonder, “how many of us change our identities in our daily lives?” We often feel pressure to be someone we’re not or strive to become a version of ourselves that doesn’t align with who we truly are, especially in a world that bombards us with expectations and identities tied to things such as politics and social status.

This Sunday, we kick off our new sermon series “Unshakeable Identity,” we will turn to 1 Peter 2:9-10 to discover the profound truth of our identity in Christ. We are chosen, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and God’s special possession. In a time when political narratives and societal pressures threaten to shape our identities, we will be encouraged to embrace our new identity rooted in Him. And then proclaim Christ’s excellencies.

I sure hope to see you Sunday at 8:00, 9:15 (Full KidCity available), or 10:45 am (Full KidCity available), or you can watch the Livestream on YouTube (Like and Subscribe) or on our New Life website at 9:15 am. Additionally, we are also publishing our sermons on Spotify.

Have a great weekend,
Troy
