Pizza, prime rib and my person ...

Nearly thirty years ago, I was a Freshman in college and spent Spring Break traveling with several other students from Maranatha Baptist University. We started in Wisconsin and went out to the East Coast.

Every night, we would stay in the homes of people from the churches where we were ministering. Some of the homes were nice and the people were super hospitable and served great meals, and some of the homes made me miss my dorm….which says a lot 😊.

Often when we arrived at a church, they would offer us a nice meal like pizza….or pizza…yep, almost always pizza which was our form of Manna (IYKYK) and then we would perform music and promote our school.

But there was one church that stood out from all the rest and for more than just the food…

This particular church served us a meal that made our jaws drop: Prime Rib, Twice-Baked Potatoes, Salad, and Homemade Dessert. Their hospitality, kindness, and generosity were pretty awesome.

However, the highlight of that evening wasn’t the Prime Rib, as amazing as it was. It was the people we met, and one person in particular who captured my attention from the moment I laid eyes on her. An incredibly beautiful girl was hanging around, and after some strategic inquiries, I knew she was someone I wanted to meet.

Some might call it fate, but I call it God at work. That evening, we were invited over to her home, and the rest, as they say, is history.
This summer, Leigh-Ann and I will celebrate 25 years of marriage, and we are both incredibly thankful for that Prime Rib dinner in Plymouth, NH, back in the spring of 1995.

This Sunday, I cant promise Prime Rib or even Pizza, but we will continue our sermon series about dinner, “Table Talk: Dinners with Jesus.” I am really excited to preach from John 6:1-14 where we will learn about Jesus feeding the 5,000 with five loaves and two fish… beyond the miracle with food, Jesus used this dinner to exercise compassion for so many people who were like sheep without a shepherd.

There is so much more to share, I sure hope to see you Sunday at 8:00, 9:15 (Full KidCity available), or 10:45 am (Full KidCity available), or you can watch the Livestream on YouTube (Like and Subscribe) or Facebook at 9:15 am. Additionally, we are also publishing our sermons on Spotify.

Hope to see you soon,
Troy
