The Bird...
A few months ago, we had some surprise guests move into our front door Easter wreath. Somehow, they decided our front porch would be a great place to raise a family. And honestly, I don’t blame them, it’s worked great for us for the past sixteen years ?.
They’re waiting for someone to bring them the nourishment their souls need. And the good news? We have it.
A little bird family made themselves at home and raised a batch of babies right above our welcome mat. We eventually changed out the wreath, thinking we’d reclaimed the porch. But a few weeks ago, we noticed birds swooping around again, and sure enough, the new wreath has become their summer Airbnb. Eggs and all. I guess word got out in the bird world: “Friendly humans. Great location. Ring camera for security.”
Now, every time we open the door, we send them into panic mode. But one thing I’ve noticed? Those baby birds never leave the nest looking for food. They just sit there, mouths wide open, waiting for someone to feed them.
And this has me thinking…
There are people all around us, at work, in our neighborhoods, even in our own homes, similar to those baby birds. Hungry. Needy. Longing for truth, for hope, for meaning (not sure if the birds are longing for meaning….but, you get the point ?).
They’re waiting for someone to bring them the nourishment their souls need. And the good news? We have it.
This Sunday, we’re diving into Acts 14:8–28, where we’ll see how the Gospel keeps advancing through faithful, everyday disciples. We’ll:
-Review what the Gospel actually is (because it’s still the best news in the history of ever),
-Look at the different ways people respond to it (some with joy, some with rocks, and some with fear), and
-Get super practical about how we can follow the example of those early believers and boldly share it.
People are hungry. The Gospel satisfies. And we’ve been given the privilege of bringing it to them, not perfectly, but faithfully. So, whether you feel more like a bold Paul or a nervous little bird, I hope to see you Sunday. We’re in this together.
We will meet in our NEWLY REMODELED SPACE AT 1717 McGee. Services are at 8:00, 9:15 (Full KidCity available), or 10:45 am (Full KidCity available), or you can watch the Livestream on YouTube (Like and Subscribe) or on our New Life website at 9:15 am.
