Hold Nothing Back...

This past week, our youngest son, Ian, participated in his Taekwondo testing. If you've spent more than five minutes around him lately, you’ve likely seen a flying kick whiz past your face or heard the sound of an imaginary board shattering somewhere in the living room. He's constantly practicing…blocking invisible punches, moving through forms, and occasionally treating the couch like a sparring partner (sorry, couch). He’s not ready for the UFC circuit just yet, but he has learned one valuable lesson: when it comes to martial arts, hold nothing back.

That phrase has stuck with me. Because while Ian’s roundhouse kicks are impressive (and slightly hazardous), that idea of “holding nothing back” gets to the heart of what we’ll be talking about this Sunday.

Pastor Anthony will be continuing our sermon series, Hospitality in Acts: Open Hearts, Open Homes, with a message from Acts 4:32–37 titled, "Hold Nothing Back." In this passage, the early church is described as being of one heart and soul…so unified, so generous, that they didn’t just open their homes...they opened their hearts.

No one claimed personal ownership. No one held back. And the result? A radical, contagious kind of hospitality.

We’ll learn that:
-Hospitality flows from a united heart
-Hospitality is a witness to the watching world
-Hospitality builds up the family of God

It turns out, hospitality isn't about Pinterest-perfect homes or gourmet meals. It’s about a heart that says, “What I have is yours, because all I have is His.”

So come join us this Sunday. Let’s open our hearts and learn from the early church. And if you see a kid spinning in the foyer, throwing air punches, don’t worry, that’s just Ian, holding nothing back.

Don’t forget, we get to worship Extra at the Austin, 1720 Cherry, Kansas City, MO. Here is a shortcut that shows parking options and has some FAQ’s. Our services are still at 8:00, 9:15 (Full KidCity available), or 10:45 am (Full KidCity available), or you can watch the Livestream on YouTube (Like and Subscribe) or on our New Life website at 9:15 am.

See you Sunday!
