Notable Partnerships and Events with Good Dads KC

Good Dads Kansas City is honored to be a part of so many different events and organizations around Kansas City, and we wanted to highlight a few things we are a part of. A couple of these are future events, so you can join us in prayer as we prepare to participate in them.

City Union Mission - Impact Recognition Award: Pastor Don Lewis was honored with the Impact Recognition Award for GDKC’s involvement with City Union Mission.  He said, “This award was given because of Good Dads’ ongoing weekly involvement in the mission.” This partnership has been mutually beneficial as we strive to train fathers and help rebuild families.
Bott Radio: Good Dads KC’s founder, Pastor Don Lewis, and director, Lee Bramlett, were hosted on Bott Radio to speak on the importance of fathers being present and involved in the family unit. We’ve highlighted a few quotes from the conversation but highly encourage you to listen to the entire session which can be found on Bott Radio-Special Encounter//Good Dads KC.

“The number of fatherless homes in the Kansas City area has risen tremendously in recent years and it's something that has great impact. It produces many negative results, each having an effect on children and mothers, and ultimately on their community.” Chris Meikel

“My daughter has told me that what she is looking for is someone that reflects the character of her dad. I think that’s how it should be. I think that’s what a father’s role is regarding his daughter. Regarding his sons, he is to define and model manhood. Concerning his daughter he should provide for her what she should be looking for in a man when she comes up on marriageable age.” Pastor Don Lewis
KC Recovery Coalition - Family Recovery Day: Good Dads KC participated in an event held and sponsored by the KC Recovery Coalition. They provided a fun atmosphere for families to fellowship and learn from each other. Many fun kids' activities, music, testimonies, food, prizes, and recovery resources were provided for an amazing community event.
Dads Against Crime (DAC):
  • Christmas in July: We participated in Dads Against Crime’s Christmas in July (pictures below) event which brought many families together for food, music, prizes, and fellowship.
  • Upcoming Christmas: We are also doing another event in December with DAC to bless families in the community.

“Good Dads Kansas City will partner with Dads Against Crime this December to bless 15 families with Christmas presents for their kids. If you know of a family in need that won’t be able to buy Christmas presents, please send them this form to be put into a drawing. We will select 15 families to bless in this way and will buy multiple gifts for each child.” Lee Bramlett
Church Involvement: Both Pastor Don and Lee work with New Life CityChurch and also periodically fill the pulpit for other churches in the area.  Below are recent sermons for each.
Biblical Masculinity Men’s Breakfast/Retreat: On October 6-7 we had a men’s retreat for fathers and sons. We had many activities to build community and provide space to foster relationships. We were honored to have our guest speaker, Martin T Rucker II (a former Chief’s player), who loves to encourage Biblical manhood and has an unmatched work ethic that inspires many. He is passionate about sharing his faith in Jesus and building a Christ-centered community around him.  He spoke on such topics as the abdication of manhood, vulnerability in strength, and how to lead in today’s world.  Lee and Pastor Don were on panel discussions that encouraged the men in an active dialogue on the role of godly men in today's family and workplace.

Moving forward, please pray as we continue teaching at Healing House and Lansing Correctional Facility, and start another training at City Union Mission this month. We are so encouraged and grateful for all your prayers and support!

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
1 Corinthians 15:58

Thank you for all your prayers and support; we could not do this work without you!
