To mask or not to mask

To mask or not to mask

Earlier today, I was typing out my sermon and I overheard a conversation between some people from the neighboring businesses related to the change in the mask mandate.

“Did you hear about the change in the mask order?”
“Yeah, I’m not sure what to think.”
“I know, I’ve kind of gotten used to being able to hide behind the mask and I’m not sure I feel comfortable showing my face to everybody again.”

Masks can be helpful to slow the spread of disease during a pandemic, however, getting accustomed to hiding spiritually is not God’s intention.

This Sunday, I look forward to continuing our sermon series, “Counter Culture” with our 6th core value, Authenticity, and Grace: We strive to live our lives with humility, honesty, integrity, and truth both publicly and privately, accept God’s undeserved favor and extend undeserved favor to others.

We will study from Ephesians 2:1-10, where Paul makes the point we are all equal…equally dead in our sins. However, by God’s grace, we have been made alive through faith in Jesus. And as a result, we are a display of God’s craftsmanship.

I long for New Life CityChurch to continue to be a place where every person is comfortable and confident to be authentic while we welcome God’s supernatural grace to change us.

When it comes to a pandemic, as of today at NLCC, everyone is welcome, mask or no mask. When it comes to our spiritual life, let’s shed the mask and live with authenticity and grace.

I sure hope you can join us on Sunday in person at 8:00, 9:15 (Full KidCity) or 10:45 am, or watch the Livestream on YouTube (Like and Subscribe) or Facebook at 10:45 am.
