The First Impressions Team exists to help create, facilitate and communicate a welcoming environment, well-defined connections and clear next steps in order to develop a community that inspires people to know and follow Jesus.

The First Impressions Team consists of 4 smaller teams – Greeters, Coffee Crew, Security and Communion & Offering.

  • Greeters – When someone enters the doors of our building to attend a service, a greeter is waiting to provide a warm and authentic greeting. Greeters give a positive, welcoming first impression for guests and a sense of belonging for regular attenders. Greeters have a key role in setting the tone for the experience many people have in our community at New Life. When newcomers enter the doors and only see a crowd, greeters can make New Life feel warm and personal. Greeters help inform and introduce people to facilitate next steps at New Life. • Coffee Crew – We want to provide a warm cup of excellent coffee along with friendly service to facilitate a welcoming and comfortable environment. Contact Michael Boos. newlifekc.coffee@gmail.com
  • Security – Safety is important to a welcoming environment. Our Security Team is present, aware and prepared to assist in providing a safe environment. Contact Brad Dabbs. bndabbs@gmail.com
  • Communion – This team prepares & serves Communion during the service with a friendliness, warmth & approachability that helps people feel served as part of the Corporate Worship Service. Contact Gary Moore. gmoore@newlifekc.org

Jeff Shrout

Researchers have said that people often decide in the first 5-7 minutes whether to return to a church they are visiting – we want people to come back to New Life CityChurch. Our First Impressions ministry gives effort and intentionality to being aware of the aspects, attitudes and information people need to feel welcomed, get connected and want to come back. I am passionate about First Impressions because every person that comes through the doors of New Life has value and is created to belong because that is how God sees them. We want to show everyone hospitality so they can see the amazing love God has for them.
