Colossians 2:6-7 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

Ephesians 4:11-13 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,

Why New Life Development Academy (NLDA)?

We long to develop leaders who are strong in theology & practical ministry skills so together we can bring the Gospel of Jesus to Kansas City and beyond.

What is NLDA?

The Development Academy is theological training and practical ministry experience.

Who is NLDA for?

The Development Academy is for followers of Jesus Christ looking for a next step of growth, maturity, and development to actively lead and carry out the vision God has given to New Life CityChurch.

What is the format or structure of NLDA?

The Development Academy has two main components – theological and practical.

Theological:

A New Life Elder will lead the class which consists of a video teaching from “For The Church Institute”, and discussion and interaction time.

We will meet on Saturdays, January through May and September through December starting at 7:30AM and ending by 9:00AM.

Each class is worth 3 credit hours and, after completion of 24 credit hours, a certificate for Theological Training and Church Ministry Development will be awarded.

Two different entrance points will be offered each semester – at the beginning of the semester and at the beginning of the second course of the semester.

We will offer 12 total courses for a total of 36 credit hours for the entire Development Academy.

Practical:

To register, an applicant will complete the NLDA application. Upon acceptance, more information will be sent to the participant, including a personal assessment. Once the assessment is completed, the participant will meet with a Ministry Placement Coordinator to determine a practical “track” to align with during the DA.

The possible tracks are Administration, Counseling, Evangelism and Teaching.

Track Team Leaders–

Mike Chirveno – Administration Track Team Leader
Ruling Elder at New Life CityChurch

  • How does the spiritual gift of your Track display itself in your life?
It’s been my privilege to serve the church family in finance, technology, planning, administration, leadership development, as well as teaching adult Bible classes.
  • Why are you passionate about the Development Academy?
I want to see New Life CityChurch locations all across our city and I want them staffed by people who share the New Life DNA and have a strong Biblical and practical education. The Development Academy is the best mechanism to make that happen.

Don Lewis – Counseling Track Team Leader
Outreach Pastor at New Life CityChurch

  • How does the spiritual gift of your Track display itself in your life?
I enjoy helping people unravel the knotted ropes of their lives in one on one and group settings; which allows them to ask questions and receive answers specific to their lives which wouldn’t be possible in a traditional church service setting.
  • Why are you passionate about the Development Academy?
NLDA will help develop members and ministries and allow pastors and church leaders to fulfill the mission in Ephesians 4 “Equipping the saints for the work of the ministry”.

Troy Campbell – Teaching Track Team Leader
Lead Pastor at New Life CityChurch

  • How does the spiritual gift of your Track display itself in your life?
I enjoy the process of studying a passage of Scripture, reflecting on my own needs, spending time with people and building bridges for truth to be applied in our everyday lives.
  • Why are you passionate about the Development Academy?
NLDA provides a space for men and women to develop as followers of Jesus and Kingdom leaders so that we can plant more church locations for developing leaders to exercise their passions and grow in their gifts.

Jeff Shrout – Ministry Placement Coordinator

  • Why are you passionate about the Development Academy?
