Head over handlebars

On Monday, I loaded up my bike and drove to some trails for some exercise and revitalization.

I was feeling good, so I decided to try out some different parts of the trail. After several miles, I was heading in the direction of my car when I came upon a large tree trunk.

After looking it over, I noticed there were bike tracks on the tree trunk and concluded that if someone else could ride off that trunk, I could too.

I decided to go for it….

And before I could even figure out what happened, I was flat on my back on the ground, praying I wasn’t paralyzed.

I had failed to lift up enough on my handles, so my front tire hit before my rear tire causing me to catapult over my handlebars and land on my head several feet from the end of the tree trunk.

To make a long story short, I made it home with several cuts, bumps and bruises. After telling Leigh-Ann what happened, she insisted I go to the hospital…and then informed me that when I get to heaven my guardian Angel is going to punch me in the face :).

She’s right…LOL.

There was a moment, while lying flat on my back, I didn’t feel like moving, however, since I was out biking alone, I had no choice but to get up and find help.

This Sunday, I look forward to sharing about a different type of help. We are going to complete our verse by verse study of John 6. I see this as a conclusion to the miracles and teaching of Jesus.

In the end, the crowd was disappointed, the twelve disciples were confused and even Jesus was reflecting on the truth that in a short time, He would be betrayed.

Disappointment, confusion and betrayal…feelings that can put us flat on our back. But there is hope…I can’t wait to spend time with you in John 6:66-71 at 9:00 or 10:45am.
