There is a story about a “man of God” who lived out in the country.
He lived a simple life.
Those around him had come a long way. In the past they were disinterested in spirituality. They habitually chose nearly anyone and anything over God’s commands.
After a while, they began to reform.
The old way of life was exchanged for religion. Evil practices for piety. The people became known as religious.
However, God spoke into this context. More than 2,700 years ago, God prophesied to the people of Israel, through the “man of God” whose name was Micah. God said He would send hope to this earth, to be born in the city of Bethlehem.
God came to us.
God took on flesh.
God chose humility.
God offers peace.
All through Jesus.
The bottom line: God desires more than reform, He wants to restore our relationship with Him.
I look forward to sharing more from Micah 5:2 and Luke 2 this Sunday. I hope to see you at 9:00 or 10:45am.
