After being foster parents for six years and God opening the doors for us to adopt our two youngest, we took a break from adding to our family to ensure we were stable and confident with our five children.
Over the past few years, God has been moving our hearts toward adoption again. Several months ago, we concluded that if God brought a child to adopt across our paths we would at least prayerfully consider the opportunity.
Towards the end of 2017, a mutual friend approached us about a local young mom who was pregnant and considering adoption. We pursued this opportunity, until we learned that the birth mom decided to keep and raise the baby herself.
When we went to Brazil, our hearts were pulled when we saw the destitute poverty and the many children living in the shanty villages. In particular, there was a six-year-old girl who needed a family. After speaking with the local evangelist who was our guide there, he thought it would be best for his family to take her into their family. We were very happy for them, and once again, told God that whatever His will was for us, we would happily follow, and that we were still very much open to adding more children to our family.
A few months ago, a friend of ours who retired and followed God’s call to be a missionary in Africa reached out to us to see if we would consider adopting a two-year-old from the orphanage where she serves.
Over the past few weeks, as we have learned more about the situation, our confidence that God is at work in this situation has grown.
Along with our friend, we have a trusted attorney in that country who is walking us through each step of the journey, as well as our attorney here. During the initial meeting with the extended birth family, the birth mom shared that her friend had a dream that a white woman was caring for her son and carried him to America. When the mom heard this she started praying that God would bring it to pass.
As we have talked through this opportunity with our five children, we are confident that God has already been preparing their hearts for this as well. Each of them are fully in favor and anticipating a new little brother.
Many years ago, we committed to a life of faith. We know that when God guides, He provides. We anticipate the cost for this adoption to be a minimum of $27,000. We would love for you to consider partnering with us while on the journey. If you would like to follow our journey, please fill out the form below.
If God leads you to give any amount as a faith partner in this journey, we are humbled and super thankful! If this is not the right time for you to give financially, we totally understand. We’d love your support whether by thoughts, prayers, encouragement or financial gifts- any of those is totally awesome, and we hope that you will celebrate our new son with us!
